On January 17, the Jiangsu Society of Engineers held its Annual Work Exchange Conference and Chinese New Year Tea Party in Nanjing. Xu Jun, Executive Vice Chairman of the 2nd Council of the Society and former Associate Inspector of the Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology, Zhu Xiaorong, Secretary-General of the Society, staff of the Secretariat, as well as nearly 30 persons-in-charge and representatives of the branch organizations attended the conference. At the meeting, Chen Yang, Secretary-General of the Elite Engineers Branch, delivered a work report on behalf of the branch and put forward prospects for strengthening collaborative cooperation with other branch organizations in the new year. The conference reviewed the achievements of past work and jointly mapped out the development blueprint for the new year.
The conference was presided over by Zhu Xiaorong. Centering on the two core themes of "serving the growth and development of engineers" and "promoting the transformation of engineering achievements", she comprehensively reviewed the annual work of the Society and expressed gratitude to all branch organizations for their proactive efforts and hard work. She pointed out that branch organizations are the vivid outposts of the Society extending to various fields and regions, and the core driving force for advancing the Society's undertakings, whose vitality is directly linked to the overall development of the Society. She hoped that all persons-in-charge would continue to play a leading role in the new year, actively promote the engineer culture, safeguard the reputation of the Society, strengthen cross-field cooperation, and jointly build the Society into a pragmatic, warm and dynamic "Home for Engineers".
At the conference, the persons-in-charge of all branch organizations reported on the work carried out in the previous year and the work plan for 2026. In her speech, Chen Yang, Secretary-General of the Elite Engineers Branch, focused on introducing the innovative model of school-enterprise joint cultivation of elite engineers. Chen Yang summarized that through this model, students conduct in-depth practical training in enterprises and participate in project scientific research, which has significantly improved their engineering practical ability and employment competitiveness. Moreover, students can apply for the intermediate professional title in the year of graduation, which is 2 to 3 years faster than the conventional path. Chen Yang also emphasized that the Elite Engineers Branch has actively built a communication platform for universities in the province, promoting experience sharing and resource connection between universities and enterprises as well as among universities. At the same time, the branch has been committed to promoting the development of evaluation standards for the engineering innovation and practical ability of elite engineers in Jiangsu Province, providing a standardized basis for talent cultivation. Finally, Chen Yang expressed the expectation of further strengthening cooperation with other branch organizations, hoping to establish a closer coordination mechanism in cross-field project cooperation, academic exchanges and talent cultivation.
Subsequently, the participants held a lively discussion on topics including organizing academic exchange activities, cultivating elite engineers, popularizing engineer culture, evaluating scientific and technological achievements, compiling group standards, and integrating Party building with professional work, and put forward constructive suggestions to seek a new chapter for the development of the Society.
Finally, Xu Jun delivered a speech. He expressed gratitude to all branch organizations for their efforts and contributions to the development of the Society over the years. He suggested that all branch organizations should further strengthen work planning and implement it with precision, and in particular, make new breakthroughs and gain new experience in serving scientific and technological innovation, promoting industry-university-research cooperation, and meeting the technological needs of enterprises. On the basis of the "Four Services", they should give play to their own strengths, highlight work priorities, build activity brands, and enhance the appeal and influence of the branch organizations. They should continuously expand the membership team, extend the coverage of work, and strive to become an important force for promoting the development of engineering technology and the growth of talents in their respective fields. He hoped that all special committees and branches would strengthen exchanges and cooperation, learn from and support each other, and jointly push all work of the Society to new heights.
Prior to the conference, all participants concentrated on studying the 2026 New Year Address by President Xi Jinping. The Party Branch of the Society's Secretariat and the Party Building Working Group of the Society's branch organizations jointly carried out joint Party building learning activities, further consolidating ideological consensus and gathering forging ahead momentum to support the construction of a "Strong, Prosperous, Beautiful and High-quality" new Jiangsu and compose a new chapter of Chinese path to modernization in Jiangsu.
