Powering the Future with Intelligence: 2025 China International Information and Communications Exhibition Held

On September 24, the 2025 China International Information and Communications Exhibition opened at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. With the theme “New Engines for the Integration of the Digital and Real Economies, Powering the Future with Intelligence,” the exhibition showcased the latest achievements of the information and communications industry in promoting the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy, and in fostering new quality productive forces.

Opening Ceremony of the 2025 China International Information and Communications Exhibition

Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Chief Engineer Zhong Hong attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. She noted that artificial intelligence is driving rapid and profound innovation and transformation, and that digital-intelligent technologies have become a key engine for building a modern industrial system and accelerating the development of new quality productive forces. She called on the entire industry to work together, fully unleash the immense potential of the integration of the digital and real economies, and fully release the strong momentum of “powering the future with intelligence,” thereby injecting a steady stream of digital impetus into China’s high-quality economic development. Zhong emphasized that the present and the coming period are a critical stage for comprehensively advancing the building of a great country and national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization. As various sectors are actively advancing the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the information and communications industry should firmly seize strategic opportunities, accurately grasp the phased requirements of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, focus on the key task of advancing new industrialization, and center efforts on promoting the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy. By taking the implementation of industry development plans as a lever, the industry should strive to accelerate modernization and make greater contributions to building a modern socialist country in all respects.

Onao Makoto, Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), delivered remarks via video link, highly commending China’s contributions to the formulation of technical standards. He noted that Chinese experts have been deeply involved in standard-setting and have demonstrated strong innovation momentum in frontier fields, injecting new vitality into global scientific and technological collaboration. In the face of rapid advances in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and other technologies, building open and inclusive international cooperation is of vital importance.

Diplomatic envoys from Bahrain, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Namibia, Nigeria, Poland, Russia, the Republic of Korea, and other countries accredited to China attended the opening ceremony.

Vice Presidents Luan Xiaowei of China Telecom, Cheng Jianjun of China Mobile, Hao Liquan of China Unicom, Zeng Qingjun of China Broad Net, and Liu Guofeng of China Tower delivered speeches respectively. Huawei, ZTE, and other enterprises gave keynote presentations.

Zeng Yu, First-Class Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications Development of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology

On the afternoon of September 24, the main forum of the “ICT China 2025 Series Activities” was held, with Zeng Yu, First-Class Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications Development of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attending and delivering remarks. He pointed out that the new generation of information technologies represented by 5G, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and quantum information is accelerating integrated innovation and has become a typical representative of new quality productive forces. Breakthroughs across multiple fields and cross-sector integration continue to give rise to new industries, new business models, new scenarios, and new tracks. Information infrastructure is evolving toward ubiquitous access, high-speed interconnection, intelligent efficiency, and green, low-carbon development, while deeply integrating with traditional infrastructure. This is injecting new momentum, providing new elements, and creating new forms for new industrialization, and has become an important variable reshaping the industrial system and the global landscape. The entire industry should seize the historic opportunity brought by breakthroughs in next-generation information and communications technologies and the building of a modern great country, accelerate technological innovation and large-scale application, and continuously inject strong momentum into the development of new quality productive forces.

Academician Wu Hequan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering

Academician Wu Hequan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered the keynote report titled “Developing Data Elements to Promote the Integration of the Digital and Real Economies.” He stated that in the era of artificial intelligence, AI will be the biggest variable in the new stage of integrated development between the digital and real economies. Moving to the cloud is key to supporting this integration, and data should be used as the entry point to leverage the momentum of AI and solve the challenges in the integration of the digital and real economies.

Representatives from China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Satcom, China Information and Communication Technology Group, Huawei, and Changan Automobile successively delivered keynote speeches. The forum also held the launch event for the “ICT China (2025) Case Collection,” showcasing outstanding practices from across the industry.

Announcement of the winners of the Third “Xinlü Cup” National Final

During the exhibition, a series of high-level achievement release events were held intensively, highlighting the latest progress in the industry. On the morning of September 24, the Innovation Forum on Empowering Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality with the Information and Communications Industry and the Third “Xinlü Cup” Awards Ceremony released the list of winners of the national final of the Third “Xinlü Cup.” On the afternoon of the same day, the Quantum Technology Industry Forum released the Research Report on the Development Trends of Quantum Computing (2025). The Forum on Innovative Development of 10-Gigabit Optical Networks released the Research Report on the Development of New-Type Information Infrastructure and the report on The Development of Universal Telecommunications Service.

The “2025 BRICS Forum on the Digital Economy and Trade and Investment”

The exhibition also hosted the “2025 BRICS Forum on the Digital Economy and Trade and Investment” concurrently, further expanding the space for international cooperation and promoting the building of an open and inclusive global digital ecosystem.

According to the organizers, this year’s exhibition will run until September 26. More than ten launch, award, and matchmaking events are expected to be held, and over 20 research reports, action plans, technical standards, and other outcomes will be released, presenting a comprehensive picture of how information and communications technologies are empowering industries across the board.
