The 2024 Summer Davos Forum opened in Dalian, Liaoning Province on June 25. Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. More than 1,700 representatives from government, business, academia, and other sectors from over 100 countries and regions gathered to discuss “the frontiers of future growth” and explore pathways for global economic recovery.
The 2024 Summer Davos Forum (the 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum) will center on six themes: “new economies,” “China and the world,” “entrepreneurship in the age of artificial intelligence,” “industrial frontiers,” “investing in people,” and “the interconnection of climate, nature, and energy.” The forum will run through June 27. Topics such as “China’s economic outlook” and “making China’s vast market a global opportunity” have attracted considerable attention from attendees.
In an interview with China News Service, Remi Lam, Managing Director for Greater China at the World Economic Forum, said that the global economy is currently facing challenges such as a complex and volatile geopolitical landscape and increasing economic uncertainty. At the same time, global technological development is advancing rapidly, with significant achievements in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, materials science, and molecular biology. These new frontiers of future growth will bring new momentum to the global economy.
Mirek Dusek, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, said at a press conference on the 25th that, in the case of China, there are tremendous development opportunities, especially in technological innovation fields such as artificial intelligence and new energy vehicles. He expressed the hope that the forum would further help participants understand China’s economic priorities and “unlock” more resources, while providing a platform for dialogue and exchange.
