On July 26, 2025, in the height of summer in Dongguan, the Dongguan branch of the Southeast University Alumni Association of Guangdong Province launched an “alumni-enterprise collaboration” event, inviting more than twenty alumni from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Jiangmen, and other cities to gather in Songshan Lake and visit Guangdong Baimai Medical Technology Co., Ltd. and China Construction First Group (Dongguan) Construction Co., Ltd. Together, they revisited their shared university memories and explored new opportunities for cooperation. Chen Yang, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of Southeast University’s National Graduate School of Exceptional Engineers, and Du Zhukang, Deputy Director of the Dongguan National Graduate School of Exceptional Engineers Innovation Institute, participated throughout the event as special guests.

1. Baimai Medical: Technology embracing life
Guangdong Baimai Medical Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2012 by Li Bin, an alumnus from the Mechanical Engineering Class of 1989, and is headquartered in Songshan Lake High-tech Zone. At the beginning of the exchange event, Li Bin warmly welcomed the visiting alumni and gave a detailed introduction to the company’s development history and products. Baimai Medical has now launched more than 40 product series, obtained over 650 global registration certificates, and exported products to more than 100 countries and regions. It has become a leading enterprise in China’s domestic balloon catheter field, with globally leading technology and top-ranked production and sales volume. In 2022, Baimai Medical was selected as a national “Little Giant” specialized and sophisticated enterprise. Li Bin also revealed that the newly built headquarters building is about to be put into operation, and welcomed more alumni to visit in the future.

Afterward, the alumni engaged in full and lively communication. Whether from the perspective of technological innovation or mutual cooperation, everyone spoke freely and enjoyed a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. Under Li Bin’s guidance, they also toured the company’s production line and product application demonstration models. During the product demonstration session, using a model that replicated the human vascular structure at full scale, the alumni manually operated the balloon catheter to precisely enter the model blood vessels and expand them, personally experiencing the product’s refined structure and ease of operation.

Finally, representatives of the Guangdong branch of the Southeast University Alumni Association and the Dongguan branch presented calligraphy works by Executive Vice President Chen Yinting—the school motto “Stop at Perfection” and Baimai Medical’s corporate mission “Technology Embracing Life”—to Li Bin, wishing the company continued prosperity while also expressing the mission and responsibility of Southeast University alumni to contribute to society.

After the on-site exchange, Chen Yang, who had traveled from Nanjing, introduced Southeast University’s school-enterprise cooperation model. In the context of national strategic needs such as industrial upgrading and technological self-reliance, he explained that the university and enterprises jointly cultivate interdisciplinary outstanding talent, co-build scientific research and training platforms, share government resources, and create a win-win cooperation model among government, university, enterprise, and locality. This builds a multidimensional integration bridge between the university’s training direction and enterprise and institutional needs, with the aim of cultivating exceptional engineers in key disciplines. Subsequently, Du Zhukang, Dean of the Dongguan National Graduate School of Exceptional Engineers Innovation Institute, also introduced the specific situation and development direction of Dongguan’s national exceptional engineer cultivation program. Together with Chen Yang, he signed a cooperation agreement on joint graduate cultivation between the local government, university, and enterprise in the presence of the alumni, with the hope of carrying out more joint training in the future.

2. China Construction First Group: Craftsmanship and the pursuit of perfection
In the afternoon, the alumni visited China Construction First Group (Dongguan) Construction Co., Ltd. Xu Ying, an alumnus and Deputy General Manager of China Construction First Group South China Company, warmly received everyone and introduced the development history of the group. With its steady, pragmatic approach and cultural philosophy aligned with the school motto “Stop at Perfection,” the group has consistently upheld construction quality. Thanks to its “5.5 premium project production line,” the group won the second China Quality Award, becoming the first enterprise in China’s construction sector to receive this honor. The Dongguan Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory Phase I Ecological Park Project, in which China Construction First Group participated, won the Luban Prize, the highest honor for engineering quality in China’s construction industry. At the same time, the group emphasizes integrating traditional civil engineering construction with scientific research and technological innovation, gradually moving toward intelligent development. Whether in scientific management of production and construction or standardized robotic operations, these are the group’s development directions in step with the times. Finally, Xu Ying welcomed alumni from all industries to stay connected, noting that both domestic projects and overseas projects can serve as platforms for mutual support and shared development.

The alumni concluded their enriching visit on a well-organized and compact schedule. Although the weather was scorching hot, it did not dampen everyone’s enthusiasm for gathering from all directions.
It is hoped that this event will serve as a starting point for more interactions among alumni, gathering strength across industries and fostering cooperation across fields, so as to revisit shared friendships and pursue common development.
