China Mobile: Deepening its core business and cultivating core competitiveness

China Mobile enhances core competitiveness through brand building, deeply implementing its brand-leading initiative and systematically constructing a strategic brand system. Its brand value has exceeded RMB 310 billion, ranking among the top global telecom operators. Looking ahead, China Mobile aims to create a world-leading outstanding brand.

First, it will deepen its core responsibilities and businesses to strengthen brand leadership. It will consolidate the advantages of its “dual gigabit” network of 5G and gigabit broadband, enhance multi-dimensional computing power supply capabilities, launch national-level and industry-level capability platforms, and build first-class computing-network infrastructure. It will provide comprehensive, diverse, and cross-domain digital-intelligence services to empower the digital transformation of production methods, lifestyles, and governance, and create a first-class information service system. It will improve its global “road, station, and island” layout, promote the overseas expansion of high-quality products, and tell the brand story of Chinese enterprises well.

Second, it will strengthen technological empowerment to improve the brand’s value. China Mobile will strengthen its national strategic scientific and technological force, and focus on computing networks, capability platforms, artificial intelligence, 6G, big data, and other fields through the “BASIC6” innovation plan, helping achieve high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement and enhancing international influence and discourse power. It will deepen the “one body, five rings” innovation layout, creating a stronghold for scientific and technological breakthroughs, a source of original technologies, and a highland for science and technology talent. By leveraging its role as chain leader, it will upgrade the “ten, hundred, thousand” partnership program, promote integrated industrial development, and help build a modern industrial system.

Third, it will fulfill social responsibilities to improve brand reputation. It will safeguard network and information security, serve coordinated regional development, support the Belt and Road Initiative, promote digital-intelligent rural revitalization, empower carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and demonstrate the image of a trustworthy central enterprise with strength, responsibility, and warmth. General Technology Group: Enhancing development strength through quality improvement

General Technology Group is an important state-owned backbone enterprise that has long been engaged in advanced manufacturing and technology services, medicine and healthcare, and trade and engineering services. At the CSCEC Binhu Design Headquarters in Chengdu, it used independently developed “photovoltaic-storage-direct-flexible” technology to create a model “zero-carbon building.” In Wuliangsuhai, it innovatively applied an ecological restoration and treatment construction model, reducing the flow of 1 million cubic meters of yellow sand into the Yellow River each year. At the Temburong Cross-Sea Bridge in Brunei, it adopted a “no-touch-ground” construction method to solve environmental protection challenges in primary forests and swamp wetlands, becoming a vivid example of green construction.

China National Gold Group: Strengthening brand influence through scientific and technological innovation

Southern Power Grid: Deepening the responsibility base and lighting up a better life

Southern Power Grid empowers brand-strengthening national strategy through brand-strengthening enterprises, bringing the brand image of “A Warm Connection to Every Home” into thousands of households and adding a bright energy brand color to high-quality development.

It is committed to lighting up people’s better lives and deepening the brand’s “responsibility” foundation. It has built 19 major West-to-East Power Transmission channels, transmitting more than 3 trillion kWh of electricity in total, achieving broader and more efficient resource allocation. The power supply reliability in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has reached advanced world levels. Rural power supply reliability has reached 99.88%, and charging infrastructure now covers all townships.

Serving high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement, it shapes the brand’s “innovation” character. It has successively built a number of world-first UHV DC projects, and the Kunliu-Long DC project created 19 world-first power technology achievements. It independently developed the world’s first megawatt-level floating wave energy power generation device, “Nankun,” and China’s first power-specific main control chip, “Fuxi,” and released the country’s first power Internet of Things operating system, Power Harmony OS.

Empowering the construction of Beautiful China, it demonstrates the brand’s “green” qualities. It proposed the concept of a “digital power grid,” deepened digital-green synergy, and promoted the construction of new power systems and new energy systems. The five provinces and regions served by Southern Power Grid have surpassed 100 million kW of new energy installed capacity, with non-fossil energy accounting for 59%, reaching world-leading levels among comparable power grids. A clean power supply pattern has basically taken shape. It invests more than RMB 120 billion annually in building digital power grids and creating a clean energy chain.

Supporting the Belt and Road Initiative, it has promoted Lancang-Mekong regional energy and power cooperation, with cumulative electricity trade exceeding 70 billion kWh. It has initiated regional power enterprise summit mechanisms such as those for Lancang-Mekong countries and China-Japan-Korea, and trains hundreds of international power professionals each year for the Lancang-Mekong region.

State Power Investment Corporation: Empowering sustainable development with green value

State Power Investment Corporation takes brand building as a major issue in enterprise reform and development, planning and promoting it in a coordinated way, and making steady progress in brand strategic coordination, systematization of work, management effectiveness, and internationalization.

With the mission of “creating green value,” it is a pioneer in comprehensive clean energy development. As of September 2023, clean energy accounted for more than 70% of its installed capacity. Its clean heating installed capacity has reached 3.176 million kW, serving more than 1.01 million people. In support of desertification control, it has completed more than 44,000 mu of photovoltaic sand control. It has innovatively launched the “Snow Carbon N Action,” promoting deep coupling of different power sources and application scenarios, and was the first in the country to create a village-level integrated smart zero-carbon power plant project in Lankao, Henan, integrating micro-wind turbines, photovoltaic carports, energy storage, charging piles, and discharging piles.

With the characteristics of “green development and environmental protection,” it helps clean and low-carbon energy transition in Belt and Road partner countries. By the end of 2022, its overseas projects covered 38 Belt and Road partner countries, and clean energy accounted for 65% of its overseas installed capacity. After the Kazakhstan Zhanatas Wind Power Project began operation in 2021, it saves 109,500 tons of standard coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 289,000 tons annually. The Saudi Red Sea Integrated Smart Energy Project uses all-clean energy on the power generation side and can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 567,000 tons each year, supporting green and sustainable development.

Using the storytelling of green development as a vehicle, it makes green the background color of its brand. This year, at the China Brand Day Expo, it grandly launched the “Guohe No. 1” modern industrial chain exhibition area and released the IP image of the “Guohe No. 1” brand, a landmark achievement of independent third-generation nuclear power and a major national science and technology project. It also held a “Green Future” media day to tell good stories about green development. On its official WeChat account, it created a “State Power Investment Brand Store,” which now includes 21 green energy products and technology brands.
