To help students better understand the latest technologies and development trends in the robotics industry, on March 18, Chen Yang, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of Southeast University’s National Graduate School of Exceptional Engineers, together with teachers from the student affairs office and cultivation office, led students to visit Hangzhou Unitree Robotics and DeepRobotics to explore frontier robotics technologies.

Unitree Robotics is a globally leading AI + mobile robotics company focused on the R&D, production, and sales of high-performance, highly reliable quadruped robots and humanoid robots. Hangzhou DeepRobotics, on the other hand, focuses on the research and application of deep learning technologies, with products and services covering image recognition, natural language processing, speech recognition, and other fields.

Unitree Robotics has built a full-stack technology platform of “motion control – perception – decision-making.” Its products cover consumer-grade and industrial-grade robots and are widely used in emergency rescue, surveying and exploration, education and research, power inspection, firefighting, and many other industries. The company also independently develops key components such as high-performance motors, reducers, and 4D LiDAR, continuously driving independent innovation in robotics technology.

During the visit, the students witnessed the flexibility and high performance of the quadruped robots and, through interaction with the robots, learned about the potential of humanoid robots in various industries. The DeepRobotics showcase demonstrated the broad application of deep learning in fields such as image recognition, while bionic robots displayed advanced motion control and multimodal perception technologies.

After the visit, the students shared their reflections:

  • Ge Shengkang: During the visit to technology enterprises in Hangzhou, the bionic robot technologies demonstrated by Unitree Robotics and DeepRobotics revealed broad prospects for the integration of intelligent devices with life sciences. Their innovative achievements in bionic motion control, multimodal perception, and flexible actuation offer important inspiration for intelligent prosthetics, neural rehabilitation, and medical imaging diagnosis. As a researcher in biomedical engineering, I have come to deeply recognize the limitless possibilities of interdisciplinary integration and am more determined to explore the combination of life sciences and engineering technology with an open mind, promoting bionic technology to empower the future of healthcare and contribute to innovations in human health.

  • Shi Guangyuan: As a student of Southeast University’s National Graduate School of Exceptional Engineers, I was fortunate to visit Unitree Robotics and DeepRobotics and deeply felt the frontier charm of artificial intelligence and robotics technology. Unitree Robotics’ quadruped robots showcased the flexibility and future potential of robots in complex environments. DeepRobotics’ “Deep Vision” platform demonstrated the wide application of deep learning in image recognition and other fields. This visit broadened my horizons and strengthened my determination to devote myself to technological innovation. I will strive to improve my professional capabilities and contribute to technological development, while also thanking the school and both companies for providing this valuable learning opportunity.

  • Ni Cheng: At the embodied intelligence exhibition, the agile performance of robots and robot dogs made me deeply feel the “vitality” that technology gives to machines. From precise operations to agile movement across complex terrain, they demonstrated the limitless potential of technological breakthroughs and the extension of human capabilities. These intelligent agents can not only replace humans in dangerous environments for rescue or inspection tasks, but can also be integrated into daily life as assistants or companions. However, technological progress also brings ethical and employment challenges, prompting me to reflect on the future of human-machine coexistence. This exhibition was both a visual feast and an intellectual inspiration, making me appreciate the potential of technology while encouraging me to approach the future of embodied intelligence with reason.

This field study broadened the students’ horizons and deepened their understanding of the related industries. Through the visit, students not only gained a deeper technical understanding of Unitree and DeepRobotics’ latest achievements in the robotics field, but also experienced the real-world application prospects of robotics technology through hands-on operation and demonstrations. The activity greatly stimulated the students’ interest in robotics and artificial intelligence research and filled them with anticipation for the future of technological development.
